This fall, second, third and fourth grade students have been focusing on observation as a core skill in art and the foundation for beginning the process of artistic research. The Art Inquiry Unit is split into three parts: Leaf Inquiry, Insect Inquiry and Bird Inquiry. Below is a map of the inquiries--all students have completed the Leaf and Insect Inquiries and have just begun the Bird Inquiry.
During these inquiries students will be connecting to artists as researchers, investigators, question askers and curious people. They will also learn to identify when they are using observation, memory and imagination during the art creating process.
